Restricted Content and Practices: Alcohol

Advertising products or services related to Alcohol is restricted on AdRoll due to variations in legal requirements and publisher suitability.

If your business primarily offers alcoholic beverages for purchase or is associated with alcohol consumption, you may only target the eligible countries listed below. Otherwise, promoting the sale of alcohol or any products, services, or activities related to alcohol consumption is prohibited.

How to Fix Disapproved Ads 

If you received an email with any of the following advertising policy violations, please follow the recommended solutions listed below.

Ad Creative Violations

  1. Read the policies listed below to learn what is prohibited and about our ad creative restrictions.
  2. Upload new ad creatives that contain compliant content.
    • Make sure your new ads are added to the campaign(s) you want to launch. This will automatically trigger the new ads into In Review.
Landing Page Violations

  1. Read the policies listed below to learn about the types of alcohol content that we do not allow on landing pages. 
  2. Remove non-compliant content from the landing page you wish to use as your destination URL.
    • Reach out to the AdRoll Customer Support team once the updates to your landing page have been made to request a re-review. 
  3. If you’re not able to remove non-compliant content, change your destination URL to drive your target audience to landing pages with compliant content.
    • Once you update your destination URL, your ads will automatically trigger into In Review.
Location Targeting Violations

Alcohol Advertising Restriction: Location Targeting

If you received this ad policy violation it means that your campaign(s) is either targeting all locations (default setting) or you’ve included a location that does not comply with AdRoll’s eligible countries.

  1. Please review the list of eligible countries that you can target above.
  2. Then go to the associated ad campaign and click the Edit button at the top right.
  3. Go into the AdGroup settings. The widget section will be titled “Configure [Campaign Name]”
  4. Scroll down to the Locations section and make the necessary changes.
  5. Click Done, then click Save. You will need to reach out to your Account Manager or AdRoll customer support to request a re-review.

Ex.png Ads, landing pages, or websites aimed toward minors or individuals below the legal drinking age (regardless of location targeting)

Ex.png Ads, landing pages, or websites that do not comply with local laws 

Ex.png Ads targeting locations that prohibit alcohol advertising 

Restricted

The following content must be setup in campaigns that target one or more of AdRoll’s Eligible Countries. 

Note: Some ads may require a responsibility disclaimer as per local laws. For example, ads targeting the United States must have a “Please Drink Responsibly” message or similar verbiage. AdRoll will not approve ads that are missing required disclaimers.

⚠️ Ads, landing pages, or websites that are predominantly alcohol-related

⚠️ Ads or landing pages promoting alcohol menus, specials, or discounts

⚠️ Ads or landing pages promoting beer, wine, or cocktail-making kits

⚠️ Ads that depict alcoholic beverages or alcohol consumption

⚠️ Ads promoting alcohol branding

⚠️ Delivery services that facilitate alcohol orders

⚠️ Venues, events, or entertainment spaces that sell alcohol online
