Shopify CRM Segments

Shopify Segments are customer lists created and stored in the Shopify platform consisting of CRM contacts possessing an email address and exhibiting a specific behavior.

Shopify Segments:

  • Are Managed in Shopify: Any changes to the logic are controlled from the Shopify dashboard.
  • Are Dynamically synced to AdRoll: Changes to your source Shopify Segment data will automatically sync to AdRoll once a day.
  • Include contacts with email addresses only: Any contacts without email addresses will not be imported to AdRoll.

When Shopify segments are synced to AdRoll, we match them to cookies, enabling targeted display and CTV advertising. These lists can be synced to the Connected Audiences page in the AdRoll platform and utilized within your AdRoll campaigns for more precise audience targeting based on the behaviors and attributes of your customers.

We recommend using Shopify Segments to target a specific subset of Shopify customers that may not be available in the default Shopify Website Audiences automatically created when you install the official AdRoll app from the Shopify App Store.

Shopify CRM Segments FAQs

What happens if a Shopify segment is changed in Shopify?

Any alterations to your Shopify Segment definitions will be automatically reflected in AdRoll after the next daily sync.

What happens if a Shopify Segment is deleted?

Deleted Shopify Segments stop updating, but are not automatically removed from AdRoll Connected Audiences or from your AdRoll Campaigns.

After deleting a segment in your Shopify dashboard, you must:

  • Remove the segment manually from active campaigns.
  • Remove the segment manually from Connected Audiences.

If the segments are not remove from your campaigns, you may unintentionally continue targeting a stale audience.

Will I receive notifications about the status of my Shopify Segment syncs?

After the first sync, you can view information about the sync status by selecting the AdRoll option after clicking the Use Segment button in the Shopify dashboard.
