Remove the AdRoll Pixel from your website

The AdRoll Pixel is used to track your website traffic as an integral part of the initial setup. It is recommended to keep the Pixel active in your website at all times to ensure correct tracking.

If you no longer want to use AdRoll the process of removing the Pixel will depend on its implementation method:

After the Pixel is removed, the PixelPal Chrome extension can be used to confirm the pixel is no longer active on your site.

 

Remove Pixel placed Manually

If the Pixel code was manually placed in the website code, it will need to be deleted by reversing the pixel placement process — editing the code and removing the Pixel. 

 

Remove Pixel placed via GTM

Please remove the AdRoll tag from your GTM container to deactivate it.

  • Select the tag which uses the AdRoll Pixel.

  • Delete the tag from the GTM container.

  • Publish the changes. Once done, the AdRoll Pixel will no longer be active on the site.

 

Remove Pixel placed via Shopify

If your AdRoll account was integrated with Shopify, please uninstall the AdRoll plugin from your Shopify account following these instructions. This will remove the AdRoll Pixel, as well as sever the eCommerce integration.

Alternatively, you can manually remove the Pixel code from your site requires editing of your Shopify theme:

  • Navigate to your online store and select Themes.
  • Go to your active Live theme, click on the Actions drop-down, and select Edit code.

  • Go to Layout and select the theme.liquid template. Find your code above the head tag and delete the AdRoll Pixel.
  • Save and double-check the code.
