The AdRoll AI Assistant is powered by the HeroIQ AI agent layer, a coordinated system of AI agents working behind the scenes.
Agents are trained to complete specific tasks by orchestrating the right set of skills and tools. Skills are specialized capabilities that help analyze data, take action, or generate content. Tools are functional components that agents call on to complete tasks effectively.
The agents work together and share context so you only interact with the AI assistant—not individual agents. All coordination happens behind the scenes, giving you a seamless, unified experience.
We’re building strong foundations for our agents, developing tools and refining skills to maximize the value they deliver. Over time, agents will be able to handle more complex tasks and provide more autonomous action on your behalf.

Campaign Creation Assistance
- Guided setup reduces time spent translating strategy into Web Retargeting, Lookalike, and Contextual campaigns.

To get started with Campaign Creation Assistance, go to the left-hand navigation and select Campaigns > Ad Campaigns, then click Create and choose Campaign Creation Assistant.
The assistant will begin by prompting you for details such as campaign goals, budget preferences, and more. If you already have campaigns live, it may suggest additional campaigns to complement your current setup. You’ll see suggested prompts appear throughout the process, or you can simply respond in natural language.
Once the assistant has gathered the necessary details, it will open a full-screen view with your campaign setup recommendations. Here, you can review and edit settings such as start and end dates, targeting parameters, campaign name, and budget. If you’d like a fresh take, you can regenerate recommendations at any time. When everything looks right, click Create to generate your campaign draft(s).
After your drafts are created, you can open them directly from the chat or access them later in the Ad Campaigns page. When you’re ready to launch, open your draft campaign, upload your creative, and review your settings. Complete & Launch to submit your campaign for approval.
Ask Me Anything
- Ask questions in natural language to get answers instantly.
- Validate setup, clarify concepts, troubleshoot issues, or explore new ideas.
- Use in-context prompts when you’re not sure where to start.
To use Ask-Me-Anything, open the assistant from the left-hand navigation or click the “Ask-me-anything” button on the AI-insights panel from the home page or Ad Campaigns page.
In the chat box, type your question in natural language – for example:
- How do I set up a Lookalike campaign?
- What does CTR mean?
- How do I track conversions?
If you’re not sure where to start, you can also explore suggested prompts from the AI-insights panel or the starter prompts within the assistant chat window.
The assistant draws on best-practice recommendations, internal technical documentation, and Help Center resources to give you accurate, helpful answers. You can use it to clarify setup steps, validate your campaign settings, troubleshoot issues, or explore new ideas.
As with any conversation, you can follow up to dig deeper or ask for clarification. The assistant remembers the context of your current chat, so your follow-up questions build on what’s already been discussed. When relevant, it will also provide direct links to helpful articles so you can connect to answers quickly.
Optimizations
- Access 15+ inline recommendations, such as missing ad sizes, budget suggestions, or address setup gaps.
- Also, get AI-driven recommendations for new contextual categories to refine or expand your campaign's targeting.
- Each suggestion includes a clear rationale so you understand the reasoning.
- Apply changes quickly with full control over final decisions.
To access Optimizations, you’ll see them surfaced in several ways throughout your workflows. In the dashboard, recommendations appear inline with key metrics and are highlighted with sparkle icons .
Hover over a sparkle icon to preview the recommendation. The assistant will explain the suggestion, such as adding missing ad sizes, setting up conversion segments, and more. You can click through the prompts to open a new chat for more context.
The AI-insights panel provides starter prompts to help you identify setup gaps and address factors that influence performance. Some suggestions go beyond campaign setup and focus on ways to expand reach or strengthen results, such as enabling cross-device tracking or adding a consent banner. You can also ask the assistant directly in chat for optimization suggestions at any point after your campaigns are launched.
From there, you maintain control and decide whether to implement or not. Over time, you’ll see additional relevant and actionable suggestions designed to strengthen campaign performance.
Smarter Reporting
To use Reporting, simply open the Assistant from the left-hand navigation. In the chat box, type your reporting request in natural language — for example:
- Give me a performance report for last month with an ad preview as the first column
- "Which channel had the highest ROI last month?"
- “Show Q3 campaign performance”
Using these prompts you can to surface quick insights and build tailored reports:
- Compare performance over time or prepare for reviews without switching between dashboards.
- Sort, filter, and adjust reports directly in-line or through chat, then save, export, or schedule them.
The assistant will generate a live, editable report based on your request. You can sort, filter, and adjust fields such as metrics or ad previews directly in the report builder or by continuing the conversation in chat. For example, if you ask, “Replace the CTR column with a CPM column,” the assistant will update the existing report rather than starting over.
Once you have the report you need, you can save it, export it, or schedule it for recurring use. This makes it easy to prep for internal reviews or draw insights that inform strategy and optimizations — without the hassle of piecing together data from multiple reports.
Tips for Best Results
- Have a question you’d normally search the web for or dig through the AdRoll Help Center to find? Ask the assistant instead.
- When looking for insights or generating reports, the assistant understands natural language but specific requests with plenty of context will help you get results faster.
- Review AI-generated content and recommendations before applying changes to ensure they align with your objectives.
- Use follow-up prompts to refine results instead of starting over. You can revisit any past conversation in the Assistant.

- AI is prone to hallucinations and can generate inaccurate responses from time to time – always review and confirm AI-generated suggestions before applying them.
