In order to ensure that we don’t allow discrimination on our platform, we restrict demographic targeting for specific ad categories that could have a discriminatory impact. These include ad campaigns for employment, housing, and financial services such as banking or mortgages.
Advertisers seeking to launch campaigns in these categories will not be able to target theses ad campaigns based on the demographic relating to age, gender, income, or education level.
In your Demographic & Interest Web campaigns
Prior to selecting any demographics or interests to target, you must identify whether your ads promote housing, employment, or financial services or products.

To comply with Facebook's policies and to prevent discrimination, we restrict demographic targeting for ad categories that could have a discriminatory impact. This includes campaigns related to;
- Employment
- Housing
- Financial services (Insurance, bank accounts, investment services and payment services)
Ads in these categories cannot be targeted based on age demographics.
We review your account to determine if your ads fall into any of these restricted categories. If we identify that your account promotes housing, employment, or financial services, you will receive a notification in the Audiences section of your Facebook campaign.
If you feel that your campaign was miscategorized, you can send an appeal by selecting Special Ad Appeal from the drop-down under Issue. Our policy team will review your appeal and, if found miscategorized, will change this for you.
