In order to ensure that we don’t allow discrimination on our platform, we restrict demographic targeting for specific ad categories that could have a discriminatory impact. These include ad campaigns for employment, housing, and financial services such as banking or mortgages.
Advertisers seeking to launch campaigns in these categories will not be able to target theses ad campaigns based on the demographic relating to age, gender, income, or education level.
In your Demographic & Interest Web campaigns
Prior to selecting any demographics or interests to target, you must identify whether your ads promote housing, employment, or financial services or products.
In your Social Demographic & Interest campaigns
To comply with Facebook policies, we review your account to determine if your ads are promoting housing, employment, or financial services or products. If we have determined that your account falls into one of these categories, you will see a notification in the Audiences section of your Demographic and Interest campaign.
If you feel that your campaign was miscategorized, you can send an appeal by selecting Special Ad Appeal from the drop-down under Issue. Our policy team will review your appeal and, if found miscategorized, will change this for you.
