How to Connect AdRoll and AppsFlyer

This article provides a step-by-step guide to setting up the integration between your AppsFlyer and AdRoll accounts. To read more about the features and benefits of this integration, click here

Configuration

If you have both an iOS and an Android application, you must configure each app separately, meaning you will perform these steps twice.

Step 1: Configure the Integration in AppsFlyer

  • Inside your AppsFlyer account, go to Configuration and select Partner Marketplace.
  • Search for and select AdRoll.
  • Click Set up integration.
  • Toggle on Activate partner.
  • Under General settings, input your AdRoll Advertisable ID and AdRoll Pixel ID.

  • Under In-app event postbacks, configure the specific events you wish to track. For each event, set the "for users from" dropdown to All media sources, including organic.

    1. The list of available events only shows those recently reported by the SDK. If an event doesn't appear, it may be because no user has performed it yet or it has been more than two weeks since the last occurrence.

  Important

You must communicate to AdRoll which of these events should be treated as conversions for reporting purposes, including the associated currency for each.

Step 2: Set Up Attribution Links in AppsFlyer

To properly attribute clicks from your ads, you must use an AppsFlyer URL as the click URL in your AdRoll campaigns. It is highly recommended to use AppsFlyer’s

OneLink feature, which allows for deep linking.

  • In the AdRoll integration window, click the Attribution Link tab.
  • Select the Use OneLink option.
  • Select an existing OneLink template or create a new one.

  • Set your preferred Click-through attribution lookback window.

  • Copy the generated Click attribution link at the bottom of the page. This URL will be used in your AdRoll campaigns.

Step 3: Campaign Setup in AdRoll

  • When creating your ads in AdRoll, paste the Click attribution link you copied from AppsFlyer into the click URL field.
  • When creating campaigns that target your AppsFlyer mobile audiences, use 'AF' as the first word in the campaign name for easy identification.
  • Build your Retargeting campaigns by including or excluding the appropriate mobile segments to match your goal. For example:

Campaign objective: AppsFlyer install
All Visitors Include
App installed Exclude
Opened account Exclude
Deposit completed Exclude
Campaign objective: AppsFlyer registrations
All Visitors Exclude

Campaign objective: AppsFlyer deposits
