Salesforce Integration: Installation Guide

Installation

Permissions Required: Download AppExchange Packages

  1. Log in to your Salesforce account.

  2. Copy this link below into your browser tab:

    Note: There are issues in IE11, so you'll need to use Chrome or another modern browser.

  3. Press Enter.

  4. At the screen following the link, choose Install for Admins Only. This allows all users with the System Administrator profile to access all objects, apps, and pages within your app. We'll give other users access in the Assign Permission Sets.
  5. When the installation is complete, you'll receive a confirmation email. You can also confirm the install by navigating to Setup > Installed Packages and searching for AdRoll.

 

Configuration

Assigning Permission Sets

After installation, only your Administrators will have access to see the package. To give others access, we recommend using the Permission Sets included in the Package.

  • AdRoll Administrator: Assign this to users that will be responsible for maintaining the application.  Any user with this permission set will see all pages, objects, etc. in the package

  • AdRoll Sales Rep: Assign this to Reps or other users that should see the AdRoll targeting statistics on the Account, Lead, or Contact and custom reports included in the package. They will not have access to the setup information. 

To customize these permissions, clone either of the above permission sets and make the necessary modifications.

 

Edit Lead, Contact, or Account Layouts

We include seven fields on the Account, Contact, or Lead to show the AdRoll targeting activity to that prospect.

Note: These fields are only visible to users with the permission sets assigned or the System Administrator profile.

The seven fields include:

  • Clicks
  • Click Costs
  • Click Conversion
  • Impressions
  • Impression Costs
  • View Conversion
  • Last AdRoll Tracking Date 

Add these to the layout by choosing Edit Layout on the desired Page Layout. We recommend adding a new section called AdRoll Targeting. Then drag the above fields onto the page as shown below.

Repeat this process for each desired layout.

 

Authenticate to AdRoll Platform

Connect AdRoll to Salesforce so that it can update targeting statistics and get new email addresses to target. To do this:

  1. Choose the AdRoll ABM application from the app picker.

  2. Navigate to the AdRoll Settings tab and click Authorize AdRoll

  3. Enter your AdRoll credentials.

  4. Accept the prompt to authorize AdRoll to call into Salesforceand.

  5. You'll be rerouted back to AdRoll settings.  

 

Define Targeting Attributes

The AdRoll Targeting Attributes is a way to define which attributes are sent back to AdRoll for ad targeting. You'll have to repeat this process for both the Contact and Lead objects.

Choose the fields that you want to be sent over. We include the Email field by default, but additional fields such as Country, State, Industry, etc. can be helpful when building campaigns.

If there are records that you want to exclude from targeting, then use the Targeting Filter to exclude them. 

 

Define Segments

Target your segments in one more of your campaigns.

  • Lead: All matching leads will be added to the segment.

  • Contact: All matching contacts will be added to the segment.

  • Campaign: This will add all leads or contacts added to the campaign (as campaign members) into the segment.

  • Opportunity: This returns all contacts related to the matching Opportunities Account.

 

To get started:

  1. Click New, then enter a name and description.

  2. Select the objects that should apply and enter the criteria for inclusion.

  3. The Segment Contains area will show the number of records that match your criteria, so that you can make sure you have records that will match.  

  4. Once you’ve confirmed everything, set the segment to Active when you want AdRoll to sync the matching records to use in upcoming campaigns.
